Registration, Placement Test ( 20 Weeks Regular Program )

Registration Date is on 13th - 15h of September (Fall 2010 program). All my friends came on Sept 14th, so we decided to have registration on Sept 13th on the morning. The line was already long from the morning.

Prepare your JW 202, and your Temporary Residence Form for registration. Then you will pay the school fee on the 2nd floor. Better pay with cash, because it is easier and won't take much time. After pay school fee, you need to pay the medical insurance. I never get one, so I don't know the procedure really well. Just prepare the money and passport.

After pay the fee, go downstairs, and go to the International Students Office, to take your student card. Prepare every form you've got on the building, and your passport and 2 photos of your. And It's done. Simple and Quick.

After registration done, just go and see your name for the placement test, the room, the building, and the class they placed you. example : Last Semester, I had my test on 210, Run Run Shaw Building, they placed me on B1 Class.

On the placement test day, they will give you test according to your chinese level. If you are beginner, ask for the A test. The A test is filled with english and pinyin, so don't worry. If you already know some chinese, ask for the B test. The B test is filled with simple and easy hanzi.

First, you do the written test. Later, the teacher will give you conversation test. If you can't understand what the teacher said, just said " Ting Bu Dong! 听不懂!“ ( I don't understand ). Answer as long as you can. After conversation, the teacher will give you Reading Test. Last semester, I failed on these test, that's why they place me on B1. These semester, I skip these test, since the teacher know I'm from B1 last semester. Another student also skip these test, with the same reason as mine.

That's it. The day after, just saw the announcement. And go to the class, to receive your book and your first day. On the first week, you can still keep change class, upgrade or downgrade.

My tips is don't downgrade your level if you think you still can handle. The first few weeks, you need to study harder to keep up with your classmates, but after that it will be easier.

For intensive program, I heard from my friends. They had conversation test on the morning, and HSK Test on the afternoon.

Bike Shop

If you want to get bicycle, traditional one or the electric one, you can visit one..
From wudaokou MRTstation, just go right, (the road between the station and KFC/Pizza Hut), and go straight, you will see one bicycle shop, the big one.

Many of my friends bought their electric bikes on that shop, well, I bought one on another shop, located on the back of these shop (there are many other bicycle shops there also). The owner of the big shop on the photo above is nice, we can joke around with her. And she can speaks english a little bit.

Why I didn't buy one from her? Because she doesn't have the colour and the type I wanted then. But when I went there yesterday, she is the one who've got the complete type, while other shops don't. So I recommend, you go to her.

Because the warm weather, I see many new types and models there. I bought mine where still a little bit cold, so the type of the bike were limited.

Sorry, I took many photos of the electric one.. Hahaha.. :)
Don't forget to bargain and check the motorbike before left the shop, and also ask for the guarantee.

Packing, but not yet..

On Sept 2th, I will fly to Beijing.
But, right now, I'm still not packing yet...

I don't know I still don't have the mood yet, already decided not to take many things to Beijing, since I already have many stuff down there, and will buy new things again.

*looking my old post for review*

1. Document : Ticket, JW 202, Passport, etc.
2. Medicine : Traditional Medicine from Indonesia.
3. Money
4. Electronic
5. Clothes (not many!!)
6. Personal Use : but I think, I might skip these, since we can buy almost everything there.

The last time, I found out, there are people suggesting to bring deodorant, sunblock, or lotion from your country, but I found it in China, well, in China, more expensive, but they have.

Going to start packing on the evening, after dinner, I hope then I already have the mood.. :)

My tips : Don't bring a lot of unnecessary things from your country, since China have almost everything and cheap. Well, if you wear uncommon size of clothes and shoes, you must bring it, because Chinese People are smaller. I bought men shoes there for sport, since they don't have my size.. ( I know, my foot are big.. XD~ )

One more thing, if you don't like cheap stuff or love the quality stuff, bring it. Since well, cheap stuff!!
便宜没好货,好货不便宜。

Meaning : Cheap stuff are not good, Good Stuff not cheap.
Chinese Idioms, you will learn on school, and use it often after buy stuff in China.

Switch Proxy

Since there is popular "Great Firewall of China" which blocked most of the website I love, blogger, Facebook n twitter, we have to be a little tricky to deal with it..

It said, we need to use a proxy server.. I'm not some IT geeks, so I don't really know how it works, if u ask me..

Since I've just installed Google Chrome, I've found that Google Chrome have the extensions allowing us to switch proxy, the extensions of course created by someone, it's not officially Google's creations.. I hope it will work in China, I have bookmarked one of the proxy server web-based also, from China-in-my-Pocket's blog's recommendation..

And I'm already install Google Chrome's extensions for switching proxy, I choose Switch Http Proxy, since I saw the comments, many China people use it and it works, also it's easy, just with single click..

I will post it if it work in China..
